Description

Day 1
On the first day of your tour, your tuk-tuk driver will take you from the bus station or airport to your hotel. There will be a welcome meeting at 5.30 am and your fellow guests before starting the walking tour. After this stage, we will have dinner together, where you’ll be able to ask a tour guide anything you want to know.

Day 2
Morning: We’ll take breakfast together at 7.10 am, and take a tuk-tuk to our office in central Battambang to start the bicycle tour. This will take you on the routes from our “Off the Beaten Track” package, which is full of breath-taking views of the Siem Reap countryside. At lunch, you’ll be able to take a brief cooking class and chat to the locals, before cycling back to the hotel.

Afternoon: We start the afternoon with a tuk-tuk ride towards the Tonle Sap floating villages. These stilt-houses, built along the banks of the Tonle Sap river, are a sight you can in very few places outside of Cambodia. From a boat, you’ll be taught about the fish farm which supports many of the floating villages’ inhabitants, and how the community has adapted over time to living in their distinctive circumstances. This area of the country is home to many beautiful species of bird, which should add a finishing touch to a beautiful sunset. After a short rest at the hotel you may join an optional dinner at 7.00, or go out to see any parts of the town you missed.

Day 3
We’ll be assembling at 4.00 AM on day three, so that we can catch the breath-taking sunrise from Angkor Wat. This ancient Buddhist temple is over 900 years old, yet the incredibly artful and complex architecture is plain to see. As the sun rises, you’ll be able to see that much of the beautiful religious iconography remains after all those centuries, and your tour guide will point out a few notable parts, explaining their significance. Afterwards we’ll cycle to a nearby village to enjoy a breakfast together with coffee made with a special local recipe. After this we’ll cycle on to Angkor Thom, another incredible piece of ancient Khmer ingenuity, and take a picnic lunch in the shade of its ancient magnificence. We’ll stop again to let you explore the Ta Prohm temple before cycling back towards town. In the afternoon, there will be an option for you to go quad biking, or to take a scenic 40-minute cycle over Bak Kheng hill. We end the trip with a choice between a group dinner or local circus performance in the evening.

Day 4
On the fourth day we’ll meet up for a breakfast farewell, to take a last opportunity to chat and reflect on all we’ve seen and done. If you’re looking to book any further tours, we’ll be happy to help. Before we say our final goodbyes, we’d appreciate it if you filled out a short feedback form to ensure our tours stay as fun and educational as always.

Keep on exploring the mysterious Southeast Asia with a Sapa trekking tour with homestay in Giang Ta Chai Village in the breathtaking mountainous area of Vietnam.
