Beng Mealea Panorama By Helicopter - Private Tour

What To Expect

Located 65km from Siem Reap, Beng Mealea is a sprawling jungle temple constructed by King Suyavarman II in the early 12th century. It preceded and may have served as a prototype of sorts for Angkor Wat. Today the temple is largely overrun by vegetation and the stone walls are crumbling which adds to its charm in a unique way. Beng Mealea surely will bring something new to every tourist to discover because of the lost after many years of its.

Description

Start by helicopter from Siem Reap International Airport and climb-up to heights from where the entire Angkor Complex can be observed. The temple used to be utterly consumed by jungle, but some of the dense foliage has been cut back and cleaned up in recent years. After exploration, back to Siem Reap International Airport. Description

Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival

Our tour guide will meet you at airport then transfer to hotel for check in. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 2: Angkor Thom and the Grand Circuit (B, L)

Visit the sites of Angkor Thom, including Victory Gate, the Bayon, Baphuon, Phimean Akas, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch, visit the highlights of the grand circuit, including Neak Poan, Eastern Mebon, Pre Rup and Preah Khan. Watch sunset over Angkor Wat then return to town. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Angkor Wat and the Small Circuit (B, L, D)

Visit the highlights of the petit circuit, including Prasat Kravan, the royal bathing pond of Sras Srang, Banteay Kdei, Takeo and the jungle-clad Ta Prohm. Make an early morning visit to Angkor Wat to watch sunrise, before continuing north to visit the elegant temple of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre. Description

Stop 1:  Oxcart Ride

Heading toward the tiny villages on the bicycle about 40mins from your hotels to begin your oxcart ride is going to be excited. Your guides will introduce you about themselves and the tour highlights.  The locals are ready to take you on the oxcart and make sure your safety and the guide swill always with you to show the interesting things along the way. ​

Stop 2: Handmade baskets   

Leading on from this, you’ll see how the people of Siem Reap weave and trade in handmade baskets. Siem Reap, like everywhere in Cambodia, was severely affected by the Khmer Rouge regime between 1975 and 79, and aside from the terrible loss of life, many upcoming industries were crippled. These handmade baskets are just one example of how the rural economy survived, relying on nature as it always did. 

Stop 3: Local Market

You will go to Phnom Bok, which is a small hill with an ancient temple atop. Climb the 640 steps up and enjoy the stunning views that overlook the Phnom Kulen Hills, Angkor area and Siem Reap town. A short transfer out of town will bring you to Phnom Bok, and enjoy the stunning views that overlook the Phnom Kulen Hills, Angkor area and Siem Reap town. Return to ground level and start your ride through paddy fields and local villages towards Beng Mealea. Accessibility has improved as elevated walkways have been set up throughout most of the temple, although to see all corners does require a sense of adventure as you will need to climb over stone blocks or walk through narrow passageways. Discovery Of Kban Spean - Banteay Srey - Private Tour

Description

You will be picked up from your accommodation and enjoy the early 'fresh' morning sun driving through rice fields and villages. The roads we take are dirt paths where hardly any cars can come and the main means of transportation are ox-carts or motorcycles.

As the roads are not paved the holes in the road gives you a real ‘Camel trophy’ feeling. Later in the morning we will visit the ruins of the Banteay Srey temple complex and Kbal Spean which are located on the slopes of the Koulen Mountains. After approximately 40 minutes walking up hill we can enjoy the beautiful scenic view from the top. Here we will have our picnic lunch box next to the river thousands lingers. After lunch we will return back to the foot of the mountain and drive to Bantey Sammre and later that afternoon we will bring you back to your accommodation.

Siem Reap Insight - Bicycle Tour

Description

STOP 1: AGRICULTURE

You’ll start off with an introduction to the day-to-day routines of rice farming and other agricultural sectors. Many of our tour guides have personal experience in this subject, having worked for a few years in rice paddies in between school and university. We’re confident that this tranquil ride will dissolve any clinging stress from your travels, and teach you a great deal about the local people’s livelihoods.

STOP 2: RATTAN BASKET MAKING

As with the Off the Beaten Track tour, you will stop for a while to learn about rural Cambodian basket making. This is a unique and intricate craft, which has been passed down from parent to child for centuries. You may have seen this beautiful work before in a luxurious hotel, without knowing about the quaint industry behind it that provides thousands with a livelihood.

STOP 3: LOCAL MARKET

After your lesson in Rattam basket making, you’ll come to the local market, which will be bustling with the sights and sounds of villagers buying and selling local produce. Here, you’ll have some time to see dozens of intriguing products you can’t find anywhere else in the world, and learn a little about the conventions of rural mercantile. As you walk amongst the stalls, your tour guide will tell you a bit about the history and operations of the market, and just how many people depend on this centre of community.

STOP 4: LOCAL LUNCH AND COOKING CLASS

After the Pagoda stop, we’ll take a long, relaxing ride back towards Siem Reap, where our lunch will already be cooking in the homes of a few of the locals. If we arrive in time, and you’re confident in your cooking skills, you may want to help with the preparation, learning even more about Cambodian cuisine in the process.

STOP 5: PAGODA

After leaving the market, your tour will deviate south towards Pagoda. Almost immediately you’ll notice a significant change in the landscape and fauna here compared to Battambang, which will give you a visual aid if you are interested in Cambodia’s complex geography. In the rainy season, when the Tonle Sap River rises greatly, the stilted homes along its banks look like a floating village! Along the way, you’ll pass many spots of cultural significance, where your tour guide will stop to teach you about Cambodian religion, legends and custom.

STOP 6: KHMER NOODLE

Khmer noodles have been a symbol of the Cambodian countryside for centuries, and have become a staple in dozens of popular dishes all over the country. One such recipe is commonly known as “lied cakes” meaning “cakes which show you how to eat.” This strange label comes from an ancient Battambang legend, which your tour guide will be more than happy to retell. 

STOP 7: RICE WINE

Rice wine is a well-known drink, enjoyed all over Cambodia. While it’s certainly become a major part in the locals’ recreational time, it also has many curative purposes, and is used in small doses to help cure a variety of illnesses. Your tour guide will talk you through the distilling process and how the trade in rice wine brings money into rural communities.
