Description

As this is a half day trip you can either choose this for the morning or afternoon. We will pick you up from your accommodation and head to floating village Kampong Kleang named. During the dry season we will drive with our jeep between the stilts on which the houses are built, rising up to 10 meters in the air.

In the wet season, the water level reaches its peak and can rise up to 1 or 2 meters above the building floors. On this day we will also offer you a boat ride through the village and have the chance to meet the locals. After this we will drive back to your accommodation on dirt roads and see some small villages. The last part will be on highway 6.

Colors Of Cambodia - Painting Angkor - Private Tour

What To Expect

You will meet a young local artist who will tell you his life story and how he became involved with art. The artist now works with a local charity, Colors of Cambodia. The project was set up by William Gentry in 2003 and aims to support children between five and sixteen years of age from the most underprivileged schools in the Siem Reap area.

Description

Enjoy a field trip to Angkor and its rural surroundings and receive a short lesson from the artist on how to paint and to reproduce the Angkor temples in your own way. You will also be accompanied by a local student who will also be there to paint and to share their experience with you. Enjoy discovering your artistic self, exchanging ideas and knowing you have helped the local community before heading back to town.

What To Expect

Preah Vihear dates back to the beginning of the 11th century. It dominates the plain from its prominent position in the Dangrek Mountains at an altitude of over 700m. The temple is located near the Thai border and was previously occupied by the Thais. It has recently been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. The temple is composed of a series of sanctuaries linked by a system of pavements and staircases over an 800 metre long axis and is built with a clear view of the plains from where it stands. Dedicated to Shiva, this temple is unusual among Khmer temples in being constructed along a north-south axis rather than having the conventional rectangular plan with orientation toward the east. About 60 kilometers outside of Siem Reap lies the mysterious 12th century Beng Mealea Temple, which is heavily overrun by trees, vines and moss.
